For Parasophia Conversations 07 “Heritage and Transmission II,” yūzen textile artist Kunihiko Moriguchi and ceramic artist Kichizaemon Raku XV will continue the discussion that was started in the seminar “Heritage and Transmission: Towards for Generative Intelligence of the Future,” which was presented by Villa Kujoyama on April 22 and 23 (more information below).

Kunihiko Moriguchi (森口邦彦)
Born 1941 in Kyoto. Textile artist (dyer); Preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Properties. Parasophia Professional Advisory Board member. Graduated from the nihonga department of the Kyoto City University of Art (the present Kyoto City University of Arts) in 1963. Studied architecture and graphic design at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After returning to Japan, he learned the art of yūzen dyeing from his father Kako Moriguchi (森口華弘). Moriguchi was designated as a Preserver of Important Intangible Cultural Properties for yūzen dyeing in 2007. Kichizaemon Raku (樂吉左衞門)
Born 1949 in Kyoto. Ceramic artist; current head and 15th generation of the Raku family. Graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Tokyo University of Fine Arts in 1973 and studied for two years at Academia delle Belle Arti di Roma, Italy. Began studying yūyaku glazes and creating ceramics after returning to Japan. Succeeded the name of Raku Kichizaemon XV in 1981. Designed and produced the Raku Kichizaemon Pavilion at the Sagawa Art Museum in Shiga Prefecture in 2004. Raku: The Cosmos in a Tea Bowl, an exhibition held in the Pavilion for Japanese Art at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from March to June 2015, will be traveling to the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg (July 11–September 6, 2015) and the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow (September 22–November 15, 2015).
