Parasophia presents a lecture by leading Japanese sociologist and feminist Chizuko Ueno in connection with the work by Keiko Kurachi & Satoru Takahashi in Parasophia: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015, followed by an open discussion with audience members.



Shing02
Born 1975 in Tokyo, raised in Tanzania and England. MC and producer. Shing02 came up in the independent San Francisco Bay Area scene in the early 1990s. Over the course of his independent career starting in 1995, he has made the transition from sample-based music to live performances with a full band incorporating traditional instruments, while remaining true to his hip hop roots. As the inventor of the Vestax Faderboard, he toured in the free-jazz trio, Kosmic Rennaisance. Recently he has released the FTTB mix CD series with DJ Icewater and 1200 Ways with DJ $hin. In 2014, Shing02 directed his third short film Bustin’, and his latest album The Divider was released in 2015. Website: www.e22.com/shing02

Kuranaka a.k.a. 1945
Born in Kyoto. DJ. Head of Zettai-Mu. Kuranaka makes full use of his 11 faces and 1000 arms to continue to be at the forefront of the Japanese underground scene for the past twenty years. He has headlined in major festivals throughout Japan including the Fuji Rock Festival, Rainbow 2000, Asagiri Jam, Metamorphose, and the Outlook Festival. Kuranaka also performs at major parties and in events held at universities, art museums, valleys and seasides, alleyways and desktops, and in his listeners’ ears. In 2014, he performed a set with Shing02 as part of the Yokohama Triennale (details: www.temporaryfoundation.com/english/yokohama.html#yokoby). Zettai-Mu: www.zettai-mu.net
